We are in the beginning of a great revival. "And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come." (Matthew 24:14) Could we be within a few hundred years of the second coming of Jesus? Appraise this and continue to read. You can also keep this letter and read it again in 2008 A.D.
God intended for us to be informed. This is why I frequently write about God's current work. Properly informed Christians become excited and excited people tell others about Jesus.
No man knows when Jesus will return. We do, however know by prophecy that a lot of work must be done before the major event. Remember that the salvation program did not originate with Gentiles; it originated with Abraham's offspring. Gentiles were adopted into a contract that God made with another people (Stop here and read Romans 11). The salvation program started with the Jews and it will end with the Jews. One day, knowledge of Jesus will be added to the Jew's knowledge of God. Gentiles only have a window of time whereby they can enter into the agreement between God and man.
Some people believe that we are living in the end of the Gentile dispensation. Even if this is true it will take some time, and probably a major war, before the gospel is preached to all non Jewish people. (Over one half of the earth's people do not have modern communications.) While this is happening, something great will be taking place in Jewry.
The following scripture reveals that a multitude of Jews will accept Jesus as Messiah before He returns. "Now it shall come to pass, when all these things come upon you, the blessings and the curse which I have set before you, and you call them to mind among all the nations where the Lord your God drives you, ... the Lord your God will bring you back from captivity, and have compassion on you, and gather you again from all the nations where the Lord your God has scattered you. ... [Here is the key] And the Lord your God will circumcise your heart and the heart of your descendants .... (Deuteronomy 30:1-5)
Today, Jews are being gathered from other nations; however, only a few have been circumcised in heart. This is yet to come. Notice that more than one generation of Jews will accept Jesus as Messiah. Obviously, His return to the Holy Land will be to a people that know Him as the Son of God. A recent election put Israel one step closer to this.
In June 1996, Binyamin Netanyahu became Israel's Prime Minister. This religious man has caused excitement in the Jewish religious community. He appointed Zevulun Hammer of the National Religious Party as minister of education. Hammer will probably put Torah teachings back in Israeli schools (This was removed by the previous administration). Jews will now be tending the restoration of Israel with expectancy. With expectancy they are preparing to build a temple where they believe the Messiah will one day appear. However, the temple's site will have to be liberated before this can happen.
In olden times God would send prophets to the leaders of Abraham's children. The prophets would bring messages of God's intent for His chosen people. If the prophets were received, the men at the top would praise and worship God, and the people would follow. I believe that we are approaching a time when this pattern will be reenacted. God's Holy Spirit anointed messengers will again appear in Israel. This time they will bring the message about Y'shua Messiah. Acceptance of the Son of God will start with the Rabbis. They will teach the people. By the power of the Holy Spirit circumcision of Jewish hearts will take place! This is the peace of Jerusalem that we are to pray for. (Psalms 122:6)
