May was another good month for "Knowledge of Jesus Ministries," and for JoAnn and me. For the first two weeks we were in Orlando, Florida. God used us there, and then we returned to catch up on work here in Hattiesburg. During the month, several people accepted Jesus as their LORD. In addition, some Christians, who were in bondage to mental pains, were set free as we followed the direction of the Holy Spirit. This last statement brings us to the message for this month. It concerns the beginning of the greatest rain of the Holy Spirit that man has ever experienced, "The Latter Rain."
Believe the report and get in on what God is doing! The report is God's entire word. It is so exalted that it can only be understood when one sets aside his intellect and becomes instructed by the anointing of the Holy Spirit (See 1 John 2:27). Many people will not do this, so they cannot understand the manifestations of the Spirit, a magnificent part of the current works of God. In Paul's second letter to Timothy he wrote about these people, saying, This know also, that in the last days ... men shall be lovers of their own selves ... having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. (II Timothy 3:1-5). This alone persuades me to tell about what God is doing.
Fires of the Holy Spirit are breaking out all over the world. While we were in Orlando, the Florida Magazine, a Sunday newspaper insert, contributed almost all of its space to the Pensacola, Florida, Brownsville Assembly of God revival. It detailed the story about people being healed and other evidences of God's Power. It told of over 107,000 people being saved. Last week, The New York Times also gave a favorable review on the same revival. (You can e-mail us for a copy.) Today, I received an e-mail from Memphis stating, "Then in October [1997] he, [Pastor Kilpatrick of Pensacola] is bringing his entire ministry team for revival services to be held downtown [Memphis] at one of the large facilities."
In Murfreesboro, Tennessee a long time friend, Charles Thompson, is preaching a revival that is 25 weeks old; signs and wonders of God's Spirit are evident. A great number of people have been saved. Revivals of this type are happening in Canada, Africa and Europe.
On June 1, 1997, the Jerusalem Post published a lengthy report entitled, "A Very Holy Cow." This tells about Rabbi Chaim (Haim) Richman of The Temple Institute in Jerusalem and his work with a Mississippi Pentecostal minister, Clyde Lott, concerning the "Red Heifer." (Could this be the vehicle that takes the "Good News" into another part of the world?) The report also tells of Rabbi Richman's recent speaking tour to "Bible Belt Churches," and mentioned his latest book, The Mystery of the Red Heifer. On May 20th. I was invited to go on a trip with Clyde and Chaim, and agreed to help distribute Chaim's book (which includes pictures of the heifer). It is now available in Jerusalem through Chaim, and in the States through Clyde Lott or K.O.J. I often write to you with excitement about what God is doing. I do this because I know that you know someone who needs salvation, healing and/or peace. God desires for all of us to believe His report and let Him work through us, through our churches and in our homes. Are we unrestricted conduits, allowing God's power to work, or is church doctrine and our vain thoughts preventing Him? Jesus said, ... But you will receive power, after the Holy Ghost is come upon you: .... Now is the time for us to believe the message and go forth unashamed of the Gospel and its power.
Thank you for continuing to pray for JoAnn's complete restoration from damage caused by cancer, and from the treatments. We believe that she has a great ministry ahead of her. Also continue to pray that Letter to Israel will be published this year. From this book Christians will learn much about God's perfect order for their lives and the world they live in.
