HAVING FAITH IN WHAT WE HEAR FROM GOD

Many times, when people do not get what they request from God they say, "I suppose that I did not have enough faith." In this letter I will attempt to tell why people of faith, faith given by God, do not always receive what they believe and pray for. In order for faith to work we must hear from God concerning what we hope for. In Romans 10:17 we read, "... So then faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God." In this fashion, the written Word, even the things Jesus spoke, can become revelation knowledge and work in our behalf. But God did not quit speaking after the Bible was written. After Jesus departed to be with His Father He sent the Holy Spirit to be our helper and constant teacher (John 14:16 and John 14:26).

The Holy Spirit reveals things unto us, affecting our lives today. By faith, revelation knowledge becomes our knowledge. When we hear in this fashion we can speak what we have heard, agree with God and know, by faith, the things we speak will come to pass. Many times I have heard in this fashion, spoken and watched God perform His word. This, however, does not allow us to take something God has said to someone else and speak it in our own behalf. It only becomes ours when it is freshly revealed by the Holy Spirit through "a word of knowledge," a gift of the Holy Spirit (ICorinthians 12:8).

Long before my wife was transferred to be with Jesus, the Holy Spirit was telling me every time I would fast and pray for her that she would not live. I did not like this and continued to pray scriptures concerning healing. However, I never heard that these scriptures would apply to her. If this had happened she would still be here. In a previous letter I told how many people were praying that she would be healed and how a number of great faith ministers had prayed for her in person. Was God hearing the cry from all these, His people? The answer is yes, He heard but He just had another way for her. Today I question, what if I had agreed with what I was hearing and let her go earlier-would she have suffered less? This has been a lesson for me.

Today, I know more about speaking what I hear from the Holy Spirit and agreeing with Him even when I do not like the words I hear. I know better than disagree with God, but sometimes His words are hard for us to receive. For twenty-four years I have been hearing and speaking what the Spirit says and seeing people healed and set free. On the other hand, I have many times prayed out of compassion and nothing happens. This message should bring us into a greater understanding about praying in agreement, agreement with one another and with the Lord. It is by "a word of knowledge" from the Holy Spirit that the works of God are done. We can petition God for our needs and we should do so, but we must never forget that it is by an anointing of the Holy Spirit that God’s work is accomplished.

In Hebrews 11 we are told that Able offered a more excellent sacrifice than his brother. By faith, Enoch was translated. By faith, Noah built an ark. By faith, Abraham left his home and sojourned in the land of promise and, by faith, he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God. By faith, Sarah, Abraham’s wife, delivered a son in her old age. In looking at this we have to believe that each of these people heard from God. So, pray and listen for that still small voice of the Holy Spirit concerning your answer. God is faithful and will always answer, but sometimes the answer is not what we desire. On the other hand, God’s work is always perfect. He does nor make mistakes.

Thank you for praying for and supporting this ministry. We are moving forward as God opens doors. A new, improved web-site will be up in a few days. Watch for this at the same address, www.knowledgeofjesus.org. Because of the web-site I received the following message from Steve Hirsch, a Jewish man in New Jersey.

I'm trying to get a meeting with Moshe Herson, the Dean of the Rabbinical College of America. I am good friends with his son (who is my Rabbi). I'd like to get you to meet the students there, and to show the frum world that there are Xians [Christians] who take Torah [Books of Moses] seriously.

Only God could open a door like this. So, please pray about it. This could open doors heretofore unopened to the Christian community.
